The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished fifth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. The Gophers fired a final round 293 to finish 14 shots behind tournament champ UCLA. The Gophers defeated four teams ranked in the top 10 in the country: #4 Oklahoma State, #7 Clemson, #10 Texas A&M and #3 Florida.

Minnesota was led by All-Americans Niall Turner and Bronson La'Cassie who tied for seventh at 1-over-par 217. Turner fired a 71 Sunday and La'Cassie an even par round of 72. Sophomore Victor Almstrom carded his best round of the spring with a final round 73 moving up into a tie for 49th at 14-over 230. Junior Clayton Rask and freshman Ben Pisani tied for 69th at 18-over 234.

Minnesota is back in action Mar. 17-18 at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
