The University of Minnesota men's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championships in Las Vegas, Nev. The Golden Gophers carded a 4-over 292 and trail tournament leader UCLA by 10 shots. The second round will be played tomorrow at the par 72, 7,510-yard layout.
Individually, Minnesota was led by All-American Bronson La'Cassie who fired a 1-under 71 and is tied for ninth. Senior Niall Turner carded a 72 and is tied for 15th. Freshman Ben Pisani is tied for 33rd after a 74 and sophomore Victor Almstrom is tied for 42nd after a 75. Junior Clayton Rask shot a first round 82.
