GThe University of Minnesota men's golf team carded an 8-over 296 to place 13th after one round of the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico. The Gophers are 18 shots behind tournament leader Georgia at 278 (-10).

Individually, Minnesota was led by junior Ryan Paulson. Paulson fired a 2- under 70 and is tied for 13th. Junior Josh Persons carded a 2-over 74 and is tied for 44th, one shot ahead of teammate senior Ben Greve (75/+3)who is tied for 51st. Sophomore Niall Turner is tied for 75th after a 77 and sophomore Bronson La'Cassie is tied for 78th after a 78 in round one.

The second round is tomorrow on the par 72, 6945-yard Westin Rio Mar Golf Club.
