Defending NCAA Champion sophomore James McLean fired a three-under par 69 to move to one-under par for the tournament on the second day of the San Juan Shoot-Out at the Rio Mar Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Leading the way for the Golden Gophers is senior Adam Dooley who mirrored his first day score of 71. Dooley currently stands six shots off the lead with McLean just one shot behind Dooley. Minnesota finished the second day tied for fifth place at 576 along with North Carolina State.
Clemson University took a two shot lead over Georgia Tech as they did not have a golfer over par on the day. The team's were tied following the first day of competition. David Christensen from East Tennessee State leads the field at 8-under par. Christensen shot a five-under par 67 to take a one shot lead over Clemson's Michael Hoey.
Junior Martin LeMesurier, tied for 10th on the first day, carded a two-over par 74 and is tied for 27th, eight shots behind the lead. Senior Bill Thompson also mirrored his first day total of a one-over par 73 and is currently tied for 25th, 10 shots off the lead.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes to be played on the par 72 6,782-yard course.
