Following a lengthy winter break, the Gopher Men’s golf team will open the spring schedule by traveling to Bradenton, Fla. to compete against Big Ten opponents at the 2013 Big Ten Matchplay Feb. 8-9.
The Gophers finished runnerup to Northwestern in last year's event, defeating Michigan, Illinois and Purdue along the way. The format for this year will be five players scoring with one golfer subbing in for additional rounds.
Play will take place at the Concession Golf Course in Bradenton, Fla. Live scoring will be available at the AJGA website: www.ajga.org/big10mpc
The Course: The Concession Golf Course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin. The course runs 7,474 yards and plays at a par 72.
The Field: All 12 Big Ten teams will compete in the event: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
Minnesota will go against Michigan in its first round match.
