The University of Minnesota men's golf team is tied for sixth through 36 holes of the ninth annual Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minn. Sophomore Jon DuToit leads the Gophers, entering Monday's final round in 15th place.
New Mexico is in first place through Sunday with a two-round team score of 565 (-3) and a three-stroke lead over Kent State. The Gophers are 13 shots back with a 10-over score of 578.
DuToit played an even-par 71 in the first round, and followed up with a 1-over 72. He will start the last round six strokes behind the leaders, Iowa State's Nick Voke and Kent State's Corey Conners, the 2012 tournament champion. Voke and Conners top the leaderboard at 5-under.
Junior Tyler Lowenstein also played steady golf for Minnesota. He is tied for 16th, just one shot behind DuToit, after posting two rounds of 72.
