Through 36 holes, Minnesota men’s golf is tied for sixth at the NCAA Raleigh Regional at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. The Golden Gophers and the rest of the field completed their first round Friday after play was suspended due to inclement weather Thursday. Everyone was also able to complete the second round.
At 5 over with a team score of 573, the Gophers are tied with Wake Forest. The two teams are six strokes out of fifth. The top five teams, and the top individual not on those teams, advance to the NCAA Championships.

Mendez is five shots out of first. Only one individual not on one of the top five teams is ahead of him. Wake Forest’s Cyrus Stewart is 5 under.
Alex Gaugert eagled the 15th in the second round, and later birdied the first, second and third holes. His 2-under 69 in the second round brought him to even on the day, and he will enter the last day tied for 18th.
Jon DuToit is tied for 55th at 6 over, shooting a 1-over second round. Jon Trasamar turned in a 71 in the first round, but an 80 in the second has him at 9 over. Grady Meyer is 10 over after shooting a 73 in the afternoon round.
