In total, the Big Ten honored 1,024 student-athletes who compete in fall sports across the conference. Of the representatives chosen from the Maroon and Gold, five programs were accredited for their academic success. The football team placed 28 individuals on the list to pace the Gophers. Women’s cross country (14) and women’s soccer (13) touted double-digit honorees, while women’s volleyball and men’s cross country rounded out the list with eight and six, respectively.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
At least 21 of the fall laureates maintained an unblemished grade-point average with three student-athletes hailing from the University of Minnesota. Foster Bush (football), Josh Campion (football) and Stacey Swatek (women’s cross country) gave the Gophers the second-highest total of 4.0 GPAs among the Big Ten Conference.
