Laurence Maroney and redshirt freshman tight end Matt Spaeth have been named to the 2003 Rivals.com Freshman All-America Team.
Maroney was named the 2003 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was also an honorable-mention selection by both the coaches and the media. Maroney totaled 990 yards rushing with nine touchdowns in 2003. His 6.73-yard average per carry is the second-highest single-season average in school history and the best in the Big Ten.
Spaeth played in all 12 games this season, registering 98 yards on 12 catches. He finished sixth on the team in receptions and yards receiving.
