Q: When was your first Gopher Football game?
A: I believe it was in 1950. I had just started working at the University in the Oral Surgery Department. A whole group of us from work went. It was such an exciting day I couldn't tell you who we played or even if we won. As a young girl growing up in Morris, Minn., my brother, mother and I always listened to the games on the radio. To actually go there for the first time was overwhelming.
Q: What makes you excited about the 2012 season?
A: I think Coach Kill is on the right track. He has kids who want to graduate from high school early just to get started at Minnesota. I like our new recruits and think we will be better with more experience.
Q: Why do you believe Coach Kill is the right coach for Gopher Football?
A: I have great respect for Coach Kill. He thinks of the players as his children and treats them like family. He is genuine and caring and he looks like he puts everything he has into his job. He's a fighter.
Q: Do you have a favorite Gopher apparel item?
A: I have a gold necklace with a football on it. My daughter gave it to me because she knows what a big fan I am. I also have a scarf with various Gopher pins on it that I have acquired over the years. Finally, I never forget my wristbands. A gold one on one wrist and a maroon one on the other.
Q: If you tailgate what is your favorite part?
A: Our old oral surgery department tailgated together for years. With us it was always about the food. Hot dogs, brats and lots of side dishes. Everybody brought something and everybody shared. Talking Gopher Football before the games always got me ready.
Q: What is you favorite part of Gameday?
A: I love the band performance both at halftime and after the game. Watching them march and the patterns they make is amazing. We have a tradition of stopping at Campus Pizza before every game.
Q: Why will you Be There in 2012?
A: I think it's tradition more than anything else. I wouldn't think about not having my Gopher Football tickets. All of my neighbors know that I am a GOPHER!
