Redshirt sophomore Jimmy Gjere ended his playing career, but will still be involved with the program.

Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Jimmy Gjere announced today that Gjere is ending his football career due to the return of concussion-like symptoms.

Upon the announcement, Gjere, who started five games last year tweeted, "Humbled by all of the support I have gotten in the last couple of days. Thankful for great friends, family, and Gopher family #ski-u-mah."
