The Golden Gophers will play football at TCU for the first time ever on September 13, and they want you to come, too. In an initiative to give fans an affordable way to see a great non-conference game, Gopher Sports has created a special travel opportunity for this new game day destination. Beginning Tuesday, June 24, the “Brick by Brick: TCU Road Trip” package will be available for purchase.
“Our goal is to have as much Maroon and Gold as possible in the stands in Fort Worth,” director of athletics Norwood Teague said. “We hope the affordability of the Brick by Brick Road Trip will encourage our fans to support the team on the road. This is an opportunity to create a fun experience for our fans and show the rest of the country how passionate Gopher fans are.”
Non-conference games provide a unique opportunity to visit places where Minnesota does not regularly play, and to experience these locations together with fellow Gopher fans. The Brick by Brick Road Trip schedule will allow time to venture out and explore the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
A member of the Big 12 Conference, TCU will provide an exciting early-season test for the Gophers. The Horned Frogs have made bowl appearances in 11 of the past 13 years, including BCS bowls to cap off the 2009 and 2010 seasons. The Gophers, who have made two straight bowl games, will look to come away with a tough road win to set the tone for the rest of the season.
The Brick by Brick Road Trip’s charter flight will leave Minneapolis the morning of Friday, September 12 and return Sunday, September 14, the day after the game. The price of the trip includes airfare, a two-night hotel stay, a game ticket and transportation to and from the airport, hotel and stadium. Fans will also be able to attend a Friday night “Sota Social” and tailgate before the game. Cost ranges from $600 to $900 per person depending on the number of people sharing a room.
The Brick by Brick: TCU Road Trip package will go on sale Tuesday, June 24. It will be sold in priority order based on Gopher Score. For details or to purchase, visit mygophersports.com or call the ticket office at 1-800-U-GOPHER or 612-624-8080.
