The University of Minnesota football team accepted donations for the Gary Tinsley Memorial Scholarship Fund at the entrances to TCF Bank Stadium last Saturday during the team’s annual Spring Game.
The game was free to the public, but fans were asked to donate $1 to the scholarship fund as they entered the stadium. Fans who donated $10 received a commemorative Spring Game t-shirt. Spring game sponsors TCF Bank Stadium and Cub Foods also donated $1,000 each.
At the end of the game fans, sponsors and additional donors had pledged $13,700 for the scholarship fund, which will help 13 students attend Minnesota. Fans who were not able to attend, but would still like to support the cause can do so by making financial donation or by attending the Spring Scholarship Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 30. The cost to attend is $60 and seats are still available. Fans can register online here.
