Fall Academic All-Big Ten teams boast several Gopher Standouts
Big Ten Conference announces Fall academic honorees.
Twenty-four seniors will be recognized on Senior Day Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
2011 SENIOR SEASON:
Started all 12 games at center finished Gopher career with 26 starts and 29 games played earned third varsity letter named Academic All-Big Ten.
Game-by-Game: named starter at center for season-opener at Southern California (9/3) helped anchor offensive line which led to five yards per play vs. the Trojans led offensive line that paved way for 200 yards rushing against New Mexico State (9/10) anchored line in Gophers' win against Miami (Ohio) which included 399 yards of total offense started at center against North Dakota State (9/24) started at center at Michigan (10/1) guided the offensive line from center position at Purdue (10/8) started at center against Nebraska (10/22) started at center against Iowa (10/29) anchored the line at center at Michigan State (11/5) part of protection unit that allowed Gophers to pass for season-high 295 yards vs. Spartans made start at center against Wisconsin (11/12) started 25th career game at Northwestern (11/19) part of an offensive line that paved the way for a season-high 269 yards rushing vs. the Wildcats got start at center against Illinois (11/26) on Senior Day.
2010 JUNIOR SEASON:
Saw action in three games made his first start since 2008 against Illinois (11/13) and helped lead Gophers to three rushing touchdowns and a 38-34, come-from-behind victory to snap a nine-game losing streak earned second letter.
2009 SOPHOMORE SEASON:
Missed season with a back injury.
2008 FRESHMAN SEASON:
Started all 13 games in his first full year of duty helped the Gopher offense average 322.9 yards and 23.2 points per game part of an offense that generated 2,848 passing yards, the fifth-most in school history scholar-athlete award winner earned first letter.
Redshirted selected to represent the Class of 2011 as a speaker at the New Student Convocation scholar-athlete award winner.
A 2007 graduate of Maple Grove (Minn.) High School high school coach was Craig Hansen ranked as the 13th-best player in Minnesota by Rivals selected to the SuperPrep Midwest Team as the 105th-best player named to the PrepStar Midwest Region Team named to recruiting expert Tom Lemming's All-Midwest Team was a 2006 first team Associated Press All-State selection selected to the Star Tribune All-Metro Team in 2006 named to the 2006 Minnesota Vikings All-State Team honored as an All-Northwest Suburban Conference choice as a junior helped lead team to a 9-1 mark and a berth in the section playoffs in 2005 also played basketball for the Crimson played at Osseo (Minn.) High School as a sophomore before transferring.
