2017 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Played in 10 games and started the final six of the season (one at left tackle and five at right tackle) • protected for an offense that rushed for 2,189 yards and 20 touchdowns and passed for 1,513 yards and nine scores • offensive line allowed only 22 sacks and 62 tackles for loss • Academic All-Big Ten. Game-by-Game: Made his Minnesota and collegiate debut in a relief role at Oregon State • competed against Middle Tennessee • saw extensive action at left tackle in a relief role at Purdue • saw action as a reserve tackle and helped provide coverage for team to pass for 216 yards and three touchdowns • made his first career start (right tackle) and blocked for an offense that rushed for 292 yards against Illinois • started at Iowa and at Michigan • started at left tackle against Nebraska and blocked for an offense that rushed for 409 yards (eighth most in school history) and six touchdowns (most since 2013) • started at Northwestern and against Wisconsin.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Mayer Lutheran High School • captained the Crusaders to a 7-4 overall record and 5-3 mark in conference play • saw action along the offensive line and as a receiver while also playing defense • named Associated Press First Team All-State as an offensive lineman • competed in 36 total games • as a senior, notched 87 tackles (7.9 per game), six sacks for a loss of 46 yards and forced a fumble • as a junior, registered 68 tackles and caught seven passes for 65 yards and a touchdown • tallied 52 tackles and recovered four fumbles across his sophomore and freshman campaigns • also lettered in baseball and basketball • ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals, Scout, 247Sports and ESPN • 247Sports ranked him as the No. 5 prospect in the state, while ESPN had him at No. 9 and Rivals at No. 10 • Rivals, Scout, 247Sports and ESPN listed him as the No. 2 offensive lineman in Minnesota • Scout tabbed him as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the Midwest region and No. 50 tackle in the nation.
