2011 SOPHOMORE SEASON: Played in all 12 games and had 10 starts at left tackle named Academic All-Big Ten. 2010 FRESHMAN SEASON: Started eight games in 2010 at left tackle. Game-by-Game: Earned the start in the season-opening, 24-17 win at Middle Tennessee State offense accounted for school record 45:34 of possession time, accounted for 27 first downs and 281 rushing yards vs. Blue Raiders started in losses to South Dakota, Southern California and Northern Illinois saw action in loss to Northwestern returned to starting lineup vs. Wisconsin, Purdue and Penn State saw action as a reserve vs. Ohio State started in the loss at Michigan State.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Mahtomedi High School led his team to Class 4A state runner-up finish as a junior in 2007 earned 2008 first-team all-state honors from the AP, St. Paul Pioneer Press and the Minnesota Football Coaches Association earned all-metro honors from the Minneapolis Star Tribune named honorable mention all-state by the AP following his junior season was a three-year starter anchored an offensive line that paved the way for a back-to-back 2,000-yard rusher three-year letterwinner named team's most valuable lineman as a junior and senior served as a team captain in 2008 coached by Dave Muetzel.
PERSONAL: Born October 5, 1990 son of Ed and Kelly Olson following his father's footsteps at Minnesota Ed Sr. played for the Gophers from 1980-82 played in the 2007 Prep Bowl, alongside his brother Tommy, who is a junior for the Gophers working on his postgraduate degree.
