Jay Nunez joined the Gopher football staff as an intern in July 2012. He works primarily with the special teams and offense.
Prior to his arrival at Minnesota, Nunez served as graduate assistant/tech assistant at Pittsburg State. He coached the offensive line during the 2011 season and the defensive line during the following offseason. In addition to in-game and practice coaching, his duties included leading video sessions, developing game and weight room plans, scouting and assisting with recruiting.
Nunez earned his Bachelor's (2010) degree from Pittsburg State and is currently working on his Master's (2012) degree. He was a four-year football letterwinner at Pittsburg State and captained the Gorillas as a senior. He was a semi-finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2009, and earned numerous academic honors during his playing career.
