Andy Harris joined the Minnesota football staff prior to the 2010 season as the Assistant Director of Football Equipment. He assists in the oversight of the equipment room with duties that include: laundry, practice set-up, equipment fitting and supervising football student managers. Harris has more than 13 years of experience working in football equipment.
Prior to joining the Gophers, Harris spent eight years at Division III national power Wisconsin-Whitewater where he was a student manager for three years and Head Equipment Manager for four years. Harris, who graduated from UWW, was also Director of Football Operations for three years for the Warhawks. UWW and Harris won an NCAA National Championship in 2007 and 2009 and advanced to two other championship games. Harris was also a part of the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 WIAC championship teams at UWW.
Harris spent the 2005-06 school year at the University of Arizona where he was an equipment intern. He worked with the football, basketball, baseball, golf and tennis teams while at Arizona.
Harris attended Pius XI High School in Milwaukee, Wis., and and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2009 with the rest of the 2000 state championship basketball team. Harris was the team manager.
Harris and his wife, Emily, were married in July 2013. The couple reside in St. Paul, Minn.
