Career Stats

2017 • SENIOR SEASON: Started eight of the 11 games he played in and caught nine passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns • helped block for an offense that rushed for 2,189 yards and 20 touchdowns • received the team's Butch Nash Award (competitive on the field and in the classroom) • Academic All-Big Ten. Game-by-Game: Caught two balls for 19 yards against Buffalo as he made his season debut after missing most of 2016 with an injury • blocked for an offense that scored 48 points (most on the road for Minnesota since scoring 49 at Northwestern in 1980) at Oregon State and also rushed 58 times (most since team rushed 59 times against Iowa in 2014) for 253 yards (most against an FBS opponent since rushing for 326 yards at Purdue in 2015) and five touchdowns (most since rushing for five against Illinois and Purdue in 2016) • made one catch for five yards against Middle Tennessee • made two catches for 31 yards and one touchdown against Maryland • caught four passes for 29 yards and one touchdown at Purdue • played against Michigan State, but left the game with in injury • missed the Illinois game with an injury • started at Iowa and saw action at Michigan • started against Nebraska and blocked for an offense that rushed for 409 yards (eighth most in school history) and six touchdowns (most since 2013) • started at Northwestern and against Wisconsin.

2015 • SOPHOMORE SEASON: Played in 12 games and started 10 • caught 33 passes for 428 yards and three touchdowns • had two 100-yard receiving games • named Minnesota's Tight End of the Year and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention • named CoSIDA Academic All-America second team • Academic All-Big Ten. Game-by-Game: Made one catch for 16 yards against TCU • caught one pass for nine yards at Colorado State • missed the Kent State game with an injury • returned to action and started against Ohio • caught two passes for eight yards at Northwestern • caught the first and (3 yards) second (17 yards) touchdowns on his career at Purdue when he hauled in three passes for 22 yards • made three catches for 54 yards against Nebraska • caught five passes for a career-high 111 yards against Michigan • his 111 yards against Michigan were the fourth-most by a Gopher tight end since 1950 and were the most by a tight end since Ben Utecht had 104 against Wisconsin in 2001 • caught four passes for 50 yards at Ohio State • scored one touchdown and caught six passes for 105 yards at Iowa • his two 100-yard receiving games (111 vs Michigan and 106 at Iowa) made him the first Gopher tight end to have two 100-yard games in the same season since at least 1950 • caught three passes for 20 yards against Illinois • competed against Wisconsin • caught five passes for 33 yards against Central Michigan.

2014 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Played in 11 games and started one • caught two passes for 18 yards • named team's Outstanding Offensive Freshman of the Year. Game-by-Game: Made his Minnesota and collegiate debut against Eastern Illinois where he caught one pass for 12 yards • saw action on special teams and on offense against Middle Tennessee • started at TCU and caught one pass for six yards • competed against San Jose State • saw special teams action at Michigan and against Northwestern and Purdue • played on offense and on special teams against Iowa and Ohio State • competed at Nebraska • returned one kickoff for 11 yards against Missouri.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Wayzata High School • Trojans went 6-3 in 2013 • caught 15 passes for 139 yards and four touchdowns in nine games as a senior • punishing blocker for team that rushed for 1,706 yards • named All-Metro by KARE11 and second team All-Metro by the Star Tribune • made four catches for 46 yards in an injury-shortened 2012 season • coached by Brad Anderson • Rivals listed him as the No. 5 recruit in Minnesota, while ESPN and 247Sports ranked him sixth • three-star prospect according to ESPN, Rivals, 247Sports and Scout • the No. 23 tight end in the nation according to Scout, while ESPN had him at No. 41 and 247Sports had him at No. 79.
