Moment #1 - Minnesota Wins 2014 NIT Championship
Minnesota had made it all the way to the World’s Most Famous Arena and the bright lights of Broadway, but 40 minutes and the SMU Mustangs stood between the Gophers and a third NIT title. And in a back-and-forth battle all game long, it came down to the final minute before senior Austin Hollins knocked down a 3-pointer to break the 59-all deadlock. It would give the Gophers the lead for good as they held on for the championship victory.Finishing with a school-record 25 wins, Minnesota cut down the nets at Madison Square Garden, where Hollins was awarded the tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer trophy. The Gophers ended their season with a postseason title and a lifetime of memories.
