St. Joseph's Head Coach Phil Martelli
Opening statement...
"From our point of view, if we can get 74 points and not shoot poorly from the foul line and have 10 turnovers in the first half I'll take our chances. The cause for concern here is over our exam break, it's now nine of our last 14 halves where our opponents have gotten 40, or more. I have to look at my personnel and my teaching. First and foremost I have to look at my teaching then look at the combinations that I am putting out there. From the point of view of Minnesota, I think it's beautiful basketball. When you can come out and have 15 assists on 19 baskets, and had 24 for the game. I thought they played really well where they knew they had some advantages inside. They got Blake (Hoffarber) going in the first half with four threes. It was a great atmosphere and a great setting, I don't think these know what it's like to play in these kinds of setting yet. My disappointment is that we didn't put up more of a fight. I thought we put up a good fight for about 15 minutes in the first half and then we just kind of played basketball. You have to try to win each possession and we weren't able to do that."
On Hoffarber's performance...
"We knew coming in that 75 percent of his shots came from the three-point line. We knew that and we talked about it, we just didn't execute it. I've got to do more teaching whether that is film. We can't have teams go to their strengths, and that's what they were able to do and what he was able to do with his game today."
