Gopher men's basketball, under first-year head coach Richard Pitino, put the wraps on one of the most successful seasons in school history. Setting a new school record with 25 victories, including wins over top-25 opponents Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa at Williams Arena, the Gophers captured the 2014 NIT title at Madison Square Garden. #4: Austin Hollins Incredible Block in NIT Semifinal
The Gophers made the most out of their postseason opportunity, earning the number-one overall seed in the National Invitation Tournament. After three home wins over High Point, St. Mary's and Southern Miss, Minnesota earned a spot in the Big Apple for a rematch with Florida State in the semifinals.
Minnesota led by four midway through the second half, but the Seminoles were threatening and looking to put an exclamation on their comeback attempt. Aaron Thomas went up for what looked to be an uncontested one-handed slam, but Austin Hollins flew in from behind and blocked the shot. It was a key momentum play as the Gophers went on to knock off FSU, 67-64, in overtime and advance to the championship game.

Jordan Murphy scored 14 points and Nate Mason finished with eight for Minnesota.
Minnesota Falls to No. 19 Indiana, 74-68
The Golden Gophers took a 67-66 lead with 3:54 to go, but Indiana finished the game on an 8-1 run to seal the win.
Minnesota Falls Short to No. 21 Purdue, 68-64
Vince Edwards scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help No. 21 Purdue hang on without freshman standout Caleb Swanigan and beat Minnesota 68-64 on Wednesday night.
