Richard Pitino has been selected as the finalist for the position of University of Minnesota men's head basketball coach. Pitino and the university have reached an understanding in principle on the key terms of an agreement, according to Director of Athletics Norwood Teague.
The terms of the agreement will be finalized later this week. Details of the agreement and further information regarding a scheduled press conference will be forthcoming.
Fans are invited to the introductory press conference, to be held at 9 a.m. on the court in Williams Arena.
Fans are advised to consult University Parking and Transportation Services for public parking options. Maroon Lot will most likely be fans' best public parking option.
The University Avenue lobby and Oak Street entrances will be open for public entrances. On-court seating will be reserved for media and University guests.

Jordan Murphy scored 14 points and Nate Mason finished with eight for Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers took a 67-66 lead with 3:54 to go, but Indiana finished the game on an 8-1 run to seal the win.

Vince Edwards scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help No. 21 Purdue hang on without freshman standout Caleb Swanigan and beat Minnesota 68-64 on Wednesday night.
