• Minnesota and Iowa will kick off the season series at Williams Arena. It will be the 90th meeting between the two teams in Minneapolis with the Gophers holding a record of 57-32.
• Sunday afternoon's matchup will be the 179th meeting all-time between the Gophers and Hawkeyes, the second-longest running series in the history of Gopher basketball. The Minnesota/Wisconsin series is first at 183 games.
Andre Hollins is averaging a team and career-high 14.1 ppg this season, eighth-most in the Big Ten Conference. He is third in scoring in conference games with an average of 16.1 ppg. He has led the team in scoring six times this season including a game-high 20 points in the loss at Wisconsin and a career-high 41 against Memphis.
• Andre & Austin Hollins are a lethal combination from behind the arc for the Gophers. Austin is 17-of-36 (.472) from three-point land in Big Ten play, fifth in the conference. Dre Hollins is 19-of-42 (.452) in Big Ten play - sixth in the B1G - and is on a current 72-144 stretch (.500) since beginning the season 14-of-48.

Minnesota Stumbles at Iowa, 63-59
Minnesota rallied from a 12-point deficit in the first half to take a 10-point lead in the second half, but Iowa rallied late to defeat the Gophers, 63-59.

Trevor Mbakwe is averaging a double-double of 10.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game over the Gophers' last 10 games. He currently sits atop the Big Ten Conference in rebounding with an overall average of 8.6 rpg and also is tops during Big Ten play with a 11.0 rpg average. Mbakwe also led the conference in rebounding as a junior (2010-11). The graduate student has contributed seven double-doubles on the season and now has 30 for his career. He  had a seven-game double-digit rebound streak snapped on Tuesday against Nebraska but still finished with a game-high eight rebounds. He collected a career-high 18 boards earlier this season against North Dakota State.   
Tubby Smith will enter the matchup with Iowa with a record of 119-73 in Gold Country. His 119 wins on the Gopher sideline is the sixth-most in the history of the program. O.B. Cowles is fifth with 147 career wins.
