Game Day Tid-Bits:
• Minnesota and Indiana have met 153 times prior to today with the Hoosiers holding a 63-89 lead in the series. The Gophers & Hoosiers split the season series a year ago with both teams winning on the road. Austin Hollins paced Minnesota with 18 points in the win last year in Bloomington against the then No. 7 Hoosiers. It was IU's first loss of the season at Assembly Hall.
• The Gophers will have an opportunity to start the conference season 4-0 for the first time since the 1971-72 team also started 3-0. The 1996-97 team started 4-0 but that season has since been vacated.
Andre Hollins has been named a Bob Cousy Award finalist. Hollins leads the Gophers in scoring and in assists. The sophomore is coming off a 22-point, a career-high eight rebound and six-assist night in Champaign in the Gophers win over No. 12 Illinois.
Joe Coleman led Minnesota against Illinois with a career-high 29 points, including 24 in the second half. His night included a pair of three pointers, the first time in his career that he has made multiple treys in a game. The sophomore is averaging a career-high 10.9 ppg this season.
Trevor Mbakwe secured his 27th career double-double with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds against Illinois on Wednesday. He leads Minnesota in rebounding this season at 7.9 rpg, tied for second in the Big Ten Conference with Indiana's Cody Zeller. Mbakwe holds a career-average of 9.6 rpg in Maroon & Gold, the 10th-highest rebounding average in the history of the program.
Tubby Smith currently has 118 victories on the bench at Minnesota, tied with Dan Monson for the sixth-most in program history.

Big Ten Starts:
• The Gophers opened the 2012-13 Big Ten Conference slate with a three straight victories over Michigan State & Northwestern at Williams Arena and at Illinois.
• It is the first time Minnesota has started 3-0 in conference play since defeating Wisconsin, Purdue & Illinois at the start of the 1974-75 conference slate.
• Minnesota will have an opportunity to start the conference season 4-0 for the first time since the 1971-72 team also started 4-0. The 1996-97 team started 4-0 but that season has since been vacated.
• Minnesota has only begun the conference season with three straight wins 10 times (not counting the vacated 1996-97 season) and only twice since the 1971-72 season.
