CHATHAM, Mass. – This Saturday, Nov. 18, former Major Leaguer and Gopher Baseball alumnus Tim McIntosh will be enshrined in the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame along with seven others at the Chatham Bars Inn.
McIntosh spent the 1985 Cape Cod League season competing in Chatham for the A’s, leading the Cape Cod League with a .392 average, 60 hits, and 13 doubles en route to winning the Thurman Munson Award for batting. During his three seasons donning the Maroon & Gold, the right fielder posted a career .344 average – seventh highest in program history – while amassing 144 hits, 24 home runs, 99 RBIs, 49 doubles, and 124 runs scored. He earned First Team All-Big Ten honors in 1986 while also receiving the Dick Siebert Most Valuable Player selection from the team. That season, he hit .397 with 14 big flies, 133 total bases, 51 RBIs, and 58 runs scored.
The Milwaukee Brewers selected the Hopkins High School grad in the third round with the no. 61 overall pick in the 1986 Major League Draft and he made his big league debut in September 1990 against his hometown Twins before playing parts of five seasons with the Brewers, Montreal Expos, and New York Yankees. He played 15 seasons of professional baseball including the 1995 campaign with the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan. After his playing career, he worked as a Commercial Real Estate Investor for Colliers International Real Estate while also serving as a scout and minor league coach for the Yankees before being hired as an area scout for the Los Angeles Angels in 2012.
