The 18th Annual Dan Morgan Golf Open will take place Monday, Aug. 18 at Medina Golf and Country Club. Sponsored by the Golden Gopher Baseball Dugout Club, the event raises money to support the University of Minnesota baseball program.
The event was named for Dan Morgan, a 1977 All-America pitcher for the Gophers who passed away in 1996. In the past 17 years, the golf open has raised more than $150,000 in Morgan’s memory.
Different ways to get involved in the Dan Morgan Golf Open include sponsoring a tee or green, registering to golf and attend the banquet or attending the banquet only. The golf entry fee is $175 and includes the green fee and golf cart, lunch, dinner, use of the practice facility and range balls, personalized cart signs, hole contests and a Gopher baseball apparel item.
Registration will run 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. the day of the event. Participants will have the opportunity to eat lunch and use the practice are during this time. The tournament, using a four-person scramble format, will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. The day will conclude with a social hour (6-7 p.m.) leading into the award presentation and program at 7 p.m.
