Medina Golf and Country Club will once again play host for the 21st Annual Dan Morgan Golf Open August 15. The event, sponsored by the Golden Gopher Baseball Dugout Club, raises money to support the University of Minnesota baseball program.
The event is named after Dan Morgan, a First-Team All-American pitcher in 1977, who passed away in 1996. Since its inception in 1997, the golf open has raised in excess of $150,000 in memory of Morgan. A two-time All-Big Ten pitcher, Morgan was inducted into the M Club Hall of Fame in September 2012.
Ways to get involved in the event include sponsoring a tee or green, registering to golf and attend the banquet or attending the banquet by itself. The golf entry fee of $200 includes green and cart fees, access to the practice facility with range balls, lunch, personalized cart signs, tournament scoring, various hole contests, BBQ dinner banquet and a Gopher Baseball apparel item.
Registration, lunch at the clubhouse, and use of the practice area kick off the day from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tee-off is slated to be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. featuring scramble teams of four. Social hour and buffet dinner will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the awards and program concluding the event at 7 p.m.
