Click Here For Golden Gopher Baseball Notes Minnesota will play its final Big Ten road series of the season as it heads to Illinois for a four-game series on May 14-16. The first game will be on Friday, May 14 at 6:35 p.m., followed by a doubleheader at 4:05 p.m. and a single game at 1:05 p.m. All four games will be broadcast on KSNB (950 AM) and webcast on gophersports.com. The Golden Gophers head into the week one game ahead of Penn State (15-9) and Ohio State (15-9) for first place in the Big Ten at 16-8. Illinois enters the week tied for eighth place at 8-16, three games out of the sixth and final spot that would give them a berth in the Big Ten Tournament. Minnesota carries a 30-17 overall record into the series, while Illinois is 19-28 overall. Last season, the Golden Gophers split with Illinois on the road. Illinois is the last team to have taken a series from Minnesota in Big Ten play, doing so Apr. 19-20, 2002.
Minnesota won three of four games at Northwestern on Apr. 23-25 to move to 8-4 in Big Ten road play. The Golden Gophers played three of their first four Big Ten series on the road this season. Minnesota won three of four at Indiana and Northwestern, and split a four-game series at Michigan. Last season the Golden Gophers were 9-5 in Big Ten road games. Minnesota has not had a losing record on the road in Big Ten play since 1995. The Golden Gophers are 45-23 on the road in Big Ten play since 2000.
