Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Minnesota will host their first Big Ten series this weekend as Nebraska heads to Siebert Field with the first game scheduled for Friday evening.

The Gophers are 22-10 overall and 7-2 in the conference this season. Tuesday the Maroon and Gold defeated the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 5-2 at Siebert Field.

The .292 team batting average by the Maroon and Gold ranks second in the conference, only behind Michigan. Eli Wilson (.440) and Cole McDevitt (.383) lead the team in batting average while Jordan Kozicky is close behind with a .365 batting average.

Toby Hanson leads the team with 25 RBIs while Alex Boxwell's five home runs is another team high. Boxwell also leads the team with seven stolen bases and his four triples leads the conference.

The Gophers 3.92 team ERA ranks within the top five in the conference while their .237 opponent batting average is second lowest. Lucas Gilbreath leads all starting pitchers with a 2.28 ERA (third lowest in the conference) along with a 4-0 record and 50 strikeouts in 43.1 innings pitched. His 50 strikeouts are sixth most in the Big Ten.

Brian Glowicki leads the Big Ten with 12 saves and boasts a 0.44 ERA with 24 strikeouts. Tim Shannon has made 17 appearances out of the bullpen where he is 1-0 with a 3.22 ERA, two saves and 17 strikeouts. Nick Lackney is 2-1 in 13 relief appearances where he has 17 strikeouts.

About Nebraska
The Huskers are 21-14-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the Big Ten after losing two out of three games to Iowa this past weekend. Tuesday, Nebraska was defeated 5-2 to Creighton.

As a team, the Huskers have a .269 batting average with Luis Alvarado leading the team with a .317 batting average. Scott Schreiber leads the team with 27 RBIs and is tied with Ben Miller for the team lead in home runs with three each. Jake Meyers is 12-12 in stolen bases this season.

Meyers also leads all starting pitchers with a 2.54 ERA and a 5-1 record along with 30 strikeouts. The Nebraska team ERA sits at 3.37. Chad Luensmann leads the Huskers with five saves in 15 appearances and has struck out 21 batters.

All-Time Series
Nebraska leads the all-time series with a 24-25-1 record. The last time the two teams played was in 2015 when the Gophers dropped two games of a three-game series in Lincoln, Neb.
