The University of Minnesota baseball team has suspended its second game against Ohio State University due to weather. With three innings completed in the game, the Buckeyes lead the Golden Gophers 5-1.
The remaining portion of the game will be resumed on Sunday April 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with the third and last game of the three-game series to still be played at the scheduled time of 1:10 p.m. (or the completion of the second game).
So far in game 2:
After a Gopher error, Kirby Pellant hit a triple to push across the first run, while he scored on RBI grounder from Brad Hallberg. OSU added to its lead when Aaron Gretz hit a two RBI single for a 4-0 lead. After Jacob Bosiokovic walked and Pellant was hit by a pitch, Hallberg walked to score Gretz for a 5-0 lead. With one out, Minnesota contained the damage as starting pitcher Ben Meyer got Tim Wetzel popped up and got Greg Solomon to ground out to third to strand three.
Minnesota got its first hit and run of the game in the bottom of the third to cut the OSU lead to 5-1. Troy Larson hit a ground rule double to center. Andy Henkemeyer plated Larson when he hit a double to the left field warning track.
