OHIO STATE NOTES
Minnesota played Ohio State four-straight games against the Buckeyes last year. The Gophers and OSU finished out the regular season and then played against each other in the Big Ten Tournament, where OSU won, 5-3.
The last time Minnesota played in Columbus was in the Gophers Big Ten Championship season in 2010. The Gophers won two-of-three in the series, 16-2 (5/18/10), 4-3 (5/22) and fell in the last game, 9-6 (5/22).
The Buckeyes enter the weekend with a 15-12 record and 2-4 in conference action. The Buckeyes have already faced Purdue (fell 2-of-3) and Michigan State (fell 2-of-3) in back-to-back weeks.
ON THE DOCKET
The Gophers hit the road again as they travel to Brookings, S.D. for a midweek game against South Dakota State. The Gophers and Jackrabbits compete at 3 p.m. next Wednesday. Minnesota returns to the confines of the H.H.H. Metrodome, April 13-15 when Northwestern comes to town. The Gophers and the Wildcats will compete against each other at 6:35 p.m. Friday, 2:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
WHERE DID THE TIME GO?
With the Augsburg game, Minnesota concluded its longest home streak in Gopher baseball history, set at 27-straight games. The Gophers went 16-11, including winning the last eight games. In that span, Minnesota won the Dairy Queen Classic and went 1-2 in the Gopher Baseball Classic. After a five-game skid, Minnesota rebounded and won the Cal Poly series, while falling to North Dakota State in midweek games. Minnesota then defeated The Citadel, South Dakota State, Michigan and Augsburg to win the last eight straight.
GETTING THE BATS GOING
In the Gophers last eight games, Minnesota has outscored its opponents, 45-15. In those eight wins, the Gophers have held their opponents to three or less runs in five of the eight games. The Gophers established the most hits in a game this season, posting 16 against South Dakota State. Minnesota's previous best came Hamline and Cal Poly with 14 earlier this year.
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State enters the Minnesota series with a 15-12 overall record and a 2-4 mark within Big Ten Conference play. Coming off a 9-2 win over Miami of Ohio on Wed., the Buckeyes have already played Purdue and Michigan State this year, winning one of the three games against them. Joe Ciamacco leads the Buckeyes with a .344 batting average and started in 17 games. Josh Dezse is tied for the team lead in RBI (19) and leads OSU with five home runs. Brad Hallberg also had a team-high 19 RBI and bats .300, while Ryan Cypret has the team's best on-base percentage of .435 and a team-high 24 runs scored. The Buckeyes are scheduled to start Jaron Long on Friday, who has a 2.58 ERA in five starts. Leading the team with 30 strikeouts, Long has also pitched the most innings at 45.1. Brian King is scheduled to start of Saturday, marking his seventh start this season. He holds a 5.01 ERA in 32.1 innings.

The University of Minnesota evened the series with Nebraska with a 5-3 victory at Siebert Field Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of 1,183.
