Minnesota defeats the Augsburg Auggies 7-1 in a mid-week match-up. Minnesota exhausted 6 different pitchers throughout the two hour and nine minute game. Starting pitcher #27 Ty McDevitt pitched 3.0 innings, and was accredited the win with 0 hits and two strikeouts. Also seeking action was # 21 Jordan Jess, #32 Kyle O’Shea, #44 Alex Tukey, #36 Dustin Klabunde, and #35 Billy Soule. Gophers gained a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, then advanced to 6-0 by the bottom of the fourth. Augsburg’s lone run of the game came in the top of the eighth when #1 Tim Gerding scored off a wild pitch. Gopher #16 Matt Puhl went 2-3 tonight with two runs scored, while #15 Kurt Schlangen was 2-4, and had 3 RBI. Other Minnesota runs were given to #10 Jake Bergren who was 1-2 with 2 RBI, #2 David Bettenburg, #9 Michael Handel, and #7 Kyle Crocker. With this win, the Gophers advance to 17-13 in the overall regular season. This also gives them their eighth straight win.
