The University of Minnesota baseball program will hold the final game at Siebert Field on May 1, 6:35 p.m., against St. Thomas.
Gopher alums are encouraged to reserve tickets for the event by contacting Lee Swenson in Gopher Baseball at 612-625-0869 or by email at email@example.com. Deadline for alumni to reserve tickets will be Friday, April 13th. Pre-game and post-game activities will be announced at a later time.
Siebert Field was constructed in 1971 and originally called Bierman Field. The field was later dedicated to former legendary head coach Dick Siebert, who passed away in December 1978. Renamed Siebert Field in 1979 "Chief" also had his No. 24 retired, which can be seen on the right field wall alongside David Chelsnik (26), Paul Giel (34), Herb Isakson (5), Paul Molitor (11) and Dave Winfield (31). Prior to 1971, Minnesota played on Delta Field, which was located over the current left field wall. Since the 1971 construction, the Gophers held a 576-177-2 all-time record at the facility and a 445-153 mark once renamed Siebert Field.
