The University of Minnesota baseball team will hold the 18th annual Pro-Alumni & Legends Game on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m., in the HHH Metrodome. The 2012 game marks the first in two years and the second time since 2007. The event was canceled last season due to the Dome roof collapse.
Prior to the game, on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., a dinner will be held in the "M" Club Room at TCF Bank Stadium for alumni and donor members of the Golden Gopher Baseball Program.
On the day of the Pro-Alumni Game, Minnesota will take the field at 12:30 p.m. and take batting practice from 12:50-1:40 p.m. The Pro-Alumni will take their batting practice starting at 1:40 p.m. Introductions will at 2:45 with the game starting at 3:05 p.m.
The Pro-Alumni & Legends team will be highlighted by current Major Leaguers Glen Perkins (Minnesota Twins-2006-11) and Jack Hannahan (current team Cleveland Indians, 2011). John Gaub, a 2011 September call up for the Chicago Cubs and the third Gopher to play in the Majors last year, will also be attending. Hall of Famer Paul Molitor will serve as the manager for the Pro-Alumni Team. Former Major Leaguer Greg Olson (Minnesota - 1989; Atlanta 1990-93) and former Gopher great Mark Merila (1991-94) will also be part of the Pro-Alumni coaching staff.
Former players playing in the Pro-Alumni & game include Michael Kvasnicka (Houston Astros-A), Nate Hanson (Minnesota Twins - AA), AJ Pettersen (Minnesota Twins - Elizabethton), Dan Lyons (Long Island Ducks-Atlantic League), Justin Gominsky (Houston Astros-Tri-City), Ben Pattee (Minnesota Twins-AA, 2005), Tony Leseman (2003-06), Luke Appert (2000-03) and Sam Steidl (2001-04). Also participating in the event is J.T. Bruett (Minnesota Twins, 1992-93), Brian Raabe (Minnesota Twins - 1995-97; Seattle - 1997; Colorado 1997), Dan Wilson (Cincinnati, 1992-93; Seattle 1994-2005), current Gopher coach Robb Quinlan (Los Angeles Angels 2003-10) and Gopher great and current Kansas City Royals announcer Ryan Lefebvre (1990-93).
Also participating in the festivities will be pitchers Kerry Ligtenberg (Atlanta 1997-98; 2000-02; Baltimore, 2003; Toronto, 2004-05; Florida, 2006), Jim Brower (Cleveland, 1999-2000; Cincinnati, 2001; Montreal, 2002; San Francisco, 2003-05; Baltimore, 2006, New York (AL) 2007), Cole DeVries (Minnesota Twins - AAA), Reid Mahon (Arizona - AA, 2010), Kyle Carr (2006-08), Seth Rosin (San Francisco-A) and Scott Matyas (Detroit Tigers-Gulf Coast League).

Todd Oakes passed away today after a courageous and public battle with leukemia. Oakes, who coached the Minnesota pitching staff, was 55.
