The University of Minnesota will be placing 18 stuedent-athletes in summer leagues this year, setting an NCAA and Northwoods League record for most student-athletes placed in one program in back-to-back years.
The University of Minnesota's 2016 recruiting class has been ranked 52nd out of 100 recruiting classes in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Two more student-athletes have joined the University of Minnesota Gophers to round out the incoming class.
2017 SUMMER BASEBALL Played for the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League • won Summer Collegiate World Series title with the Rox • worked 4.0 postseason innings, striking out six, including a four-out save in the championship clincher • made 18 appearances out of the bullpen for St. Cloud • posted a 1-0 record and 1.71 ERA in 21.0 innings, striking out 28 batters during the regular season.
2017 | JUNIOR Recorded a 3.78 ERA in 14 relief appearances • struck out 16 batters while opponents had a .217 batting average against • appeared in three Big Ten games where he did not allow a run. Game Highlights: Made his Gopher debut vs Seattle U (2/24) where he struck out one batter in 1.2 innings • struck out two batters in two hitless innings vs Oral Roberts (3/3) • allowed two runs on one hit while striking out two batters in 2.1 innings vs South Dakota State (3/7) • rang up three batters in two scoreless innings at Penn State (5/6) • struck out two batters in two scoreless innings vs Purdue (3/18) • tossed one hitless innings with two strikeouts vs Iowa (5/27) in the seimfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
BARTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE Made 12 appearances and started 11 games • finished with a 4-4 record and recorded 52 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched • had a .857 fielding percentage • season high five strikeouts (3/6) • earned his associates of science degree from Barton College • graduated from Omaha Westside High School in 2014 • was on the honor roll.

This Saturday, former Major Leaguer and Gopher Baseball alumnus Tim McIntosh will be enshrined in the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame along with seven others at the Chatham Bars Inn.
