Tabbed All-Big Ten First Team • hit .296 with 66 hits, including eight doubles, one triple and five home runs • led the team and finished in the top-10 in the country in sacrifices with 10 sacrifice flies and eight sacrifice bunts • brought in 37 RBI • held a .997 fielding percentage in 294 chances in the field • jhit .330 with three homers and 12 RBI in Big Ten play • named Minnesota's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmandship Award • selected as the Dianne Olson-Ficenko Dugout Club Player of the Year • Academic All-Big Ten. SUMMER BASEBALL:
Played for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League • appeared in 20 games as an infielder • hit .253 and reached base at a .333 mark • tallied 19 hits, including four doubles and one triple • drew nine walks and drove in eight runs • scored seven runs.
2015 • JUNIOR SEASON:
Started 50 games at second base • hit .260 in a team-high 204 at-bats • led the Gophers with 11 doubles and added two triples • scored 24 runs, drove in 15 and walked 17 times • was 10-for-15 on stolen base attempts • second on the team with 17 multi-hit games • Academic All-Big Ten. Game Highlights: Went 2-for-3 with a double at Houston (2/14) • was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI at Florida Gulf Coast (2/28) • drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the 12th at Creighton, where he hit 2-for-6 with a run (3/7) • had two runs, a walk and a triple in a 2-for-4 game vs. Monmouth (3/15) • also 2-for-4 against VCU (3/16) • went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run and two RBIs at Rutgers (4/5) • went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs vs. North Dakota State (4/14) • hit a season-best 4-for-5 with three runs, a double, a walk and stolen base vs. UC-Irvine (5/2) • hit 5-for-13 in the series at Iowa (5/8-5/10) • batted 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI against Michigan State (5/15).
2014 • SOPHOMORE SEASON:
The Gophers' Paul Molitor Batting Champion Award after hitting .287 in 195 at-bats • led the team with 19 multi-hit games • also led the team in runs (30), total bases (73), triples (3) and stolen bases (13) • tied for second on the team with 11 doubles • drove in 20 runs, including 12 in Big Ten games • started all 48 games that he played in, 40 of those at second base • had a .748 on base + plus slugging percentage • Academic All-Big Ten. Game Highlights: Started the season 9-for-9 on stolen bases, including two steals each in Minnesota's first two games at Louisiana Tech (3/1) • hit two doubles against Creighton (2/23) and Purdue (5/11) • had his first career three-hit game against Penn State (4/26), and another against Purdue (5/11) • had five multi-hit games in a row (2/22-3/2) • batted in three Gophers on two hits at Sacramento State (3/16) • went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks in a win over Northwestern (3/22) • scored a season high three runs at Michigan (4/4) • reached base three times and scored a run against Nebraska (4/11) • in the Iowa series, was a total of 5-for-12 (.417) with four runs and two RBIs • had five RBIs on four hits in a double header against Penn State (4/26) • hit two RBI doubles in the Gophers' 2-1 win at Indiana (5/15) • had a game-tying infield hit against Purdue (5/11).
2013 • FRESHMAN SEASON:
Named to All-Big Ten Third Team • earned first letter • played in 47 games with 136 at-bats with a .279 batting average, 18 RBIs and a .359 on-base percentage • Started 37 games at second base • had a .993 fielding percentage in 145 chances while fielding 18 double plays • had 10 multi-hit games • held the longest hitting streak (12 games) and reached base streaks (16 games) on the team • batted from the lead-off spot 19 times • 4-5 in stolen base attempts • third on the team in walks (17) and on-base percentage (.359) • fourth on team in batting average (.279) • hit .313 in Big Ten play. Game Highlights: Made first career start at second base against UCLA (2/16) • pinch-hit in a 7-1 win over Western Michigan (2/22) and ended up 2-2 with a run scored • repeated the 2-2 performance the next day against Western Michigan (2/23) while batting in two runs and hitting a double • started against Western Illinois (3/10) and hit an RBI single and RBI double • walked and hit an RBI single in a 6-3 loss to Texas (3/24) • produced two hits and an RBI in four at-bats in a win over Ohio St. (4/5) • went 5-13 (.385) with three RBI and two runs in a three-game sweep of Northwestern (4/12-14) • batted in four runners, scored three times, and walked three times in the Iowa series (4/26-28) while going 4-13 (.308) • reached base four times and scored twice in a 2-3 effort in a 11-2 victory over Penn St. (5/3) • went 1-3 with a walk and run scored against Nebraska (5/11) • started all four games of the Big Ten Tournament (5/22-24) picking up three hits.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Played With O'Gorman and Sioux Falls East Legion • member of the 2011 state championship legion team and the 2012 and 2010 runner-up championship teams • in 2011 with East Legion, hit .464 with 22 doubles, six triples, 30 stolen bases and a .522 on-base percentage with just eight strikeouts in 205 at-bats. In 2011, he and the Sioux Falls East team won the South Dakota State Championship in 2011 • named the most valuable player after hitting .419 for the state runner-up team in 2010 • with O'Gorman, three-time, first-team all-state selection • as a junior, hit .471 batting average and 37 RBI • standout basketball and football athlete • led O'Gorman to a South Dakota Class 2A state championship in basketball and named to the all-tournament team • 2012 all-state honoree and AA Basketball's Player of the year • O'Gorman's starting quarterback his final two seasons • National Honor Society member.
