2017 • SENIOR SEASON:
Recorded 16 saves in 28 appearances • posted a 2-1 record with a 2.20 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 32.2 innings • opponents had a .216 batting average against • recorded six saves vs Big Ten opponents • tied for second most saves in the NCAA • Second Team All-Big Ten • Dick Howser Award semifinalist • College Baseball's Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year semifinalist • set the program record with 16 saves in a season • was named the George Thomas Most Improved Player. Game Highlights: Picked up his first save of the season after a flawless inning at UC Irvine (2/18) where he struck out two batters • had a two strikeout game in 1.2 innings vs Seattle U (2/26) • struck out two batters en route to his seventh save of the season at Ohio State (3/24) • recorded two saves and three strikeouts in a doubleheader at Michigan State (4/1) • threw one inning at NDSU (4/11) where he struck out three batters • struck out two batters in one inning while picking up his 13th save vs Nebraska (4/22) • struck out three batters in two innings of relief in the second game of a doubleheader vs Purdue (5/19) • broke the program saves record by tossing 1.1 hitless innings with two strikeouts vs Indiana (5/24) at the Big Ten Tournament.
2016 SUMMER BASEBALL:
Made 16 appearances out of the bullpen for the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League • had a 1.80 ERA, 11 saves and 27 strikeouts in 25 innings of relief • he was named to the Northwoods League Postseason All-Star Team and his St. Cloud Rox came in first place in the North Division.
2016 • JUNIOR SEASON:
Made 20 appearances out of the bullpen and held a 3.29 ERA • totaled 29 strikeouts in 27.1 frames and held opponents to a .250 batting average • recorded one save • struck out five in seven relief appearances in Big Ten play. Game Highlights: Struck out one in a flawless inning that closed out the 6-1 win versus Utah (2/19) • tossed 1.1 innings and limited the opposition to just two hits against Oregon State (2/21) • struck out two in 1.1 innings of work at Georgia State (3/5) • threw season-high 2.1 innings with a combined six strikeouts at Seattle U (3/12) and at Utah Valley (3/19) • tossed 2.2 innings with three strikeouts to help secure series at No. 23 Missouri State (3/25-26) • picked up a save after striking out two in 0.2 inning versus Iowa (4/1) • struck out one in 1.0 inning of work against Northern Illinois (4/6) • totaled two strikeouts in 1.0 frame out of the bullpen against North Dakota State (4/19) • tossed 2.0 flawless frames with one strikeout at Northwestern (4/23) • did not allow a single baserunner in two appearances in series win at Illinois (4/29-5/1) • struck out two in 2.2 innings of relief against Kansas (5/4) • netted a strikeout in appearances at South Dakota State (5/17) and against Ohio State (5/21) • scattered just one hit in 1.1 innings that included two strikeouts against Wake Forest (6/3) • earned the win after going 2.1 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out four in a matchup with Wake Forest (6/5).
2016 SUMMER BASEBALL:
Played for the St. Cloud Rox in the Northwoods League • went 5-0 in 25 relief appearances • maintained a 1.73 ERA in 25.0 innings pitched • held opponents to a .188 batting average and struck out 29 batters • recorded four strikeouts and three wins in final six relief appearances of the season.
2015 • SOPHOMORE SEASON:
Made 15 relief appearances • held a 6.17 ERA and 1-2 record in 35.0 innings • earned two saves • struck out 24 batters and walked nine. Game Highlights: Struck out one and allowed one run on four hits in 2.1 innings in his season debut at Houston (2/15) • notched three strikeouts, with two hits, one walk and an earned run in a 2.2-inning save at FGCU (2/27) • tossed 3.2 shutout innings with two strikeouts while picking up a win at Creighton (3/7) • pitched 3.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts against Northwestern (3/28) • set season highs in strikeouts (four) and innings (4.0) in a scoreless outing vs. UC Irvine (5/3) • struck out two in 2.0 scoreless innings against Michigan State (5/16).
2014 • FRESHMAN SEASON:
First three appearances were scoreless • maintained a 3.47 ERA and .275 opponent batting average in 23.1 innings pitched • struck out 13 and walked four in 11 appearances • struck out five hitters in 6.1 innings of work in Big Ten play. Game Highlights: In his career debut, pitched three innings of scoreless ball, striking out one in a win over Northern Illinois (2/15) • struck out a career high three batters in 2.2 innings pitched against Purdue (3/11) • pitched 2.1 scoreless innings against Augsburg (4/2) • made one midweek start vs. NDSU (4/15), allowing one unearned run and four hits in a season-high 4.0 innings.
Graduated from Downers Grove South High School in 2013 • played for coach Darren Orel • went 8-2 in 2013 with a 1.30 ERA, 70 strikeouts and eight walks • in 60 innings pitched as a junior in 2012, held a 1.20 ERA and an 8-1 record with two saves while striking out 81 batters and walking only six • named All-West Suburban Gold Conference, all-area, honorable mention all-state and team MVP in 2012 • won the 2011 region title with Downers Grove South • played summer baseball with the Downers Grove Longshots.
