Tom McGinnis is the Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief Financial Officer for the University of Minnesota Department of Athletics. He joined Gopher Athletics in 2011. McGinnis serves as a member of the executive leadership and senior management teams. He oversees budgeting/finance, travel, human resources and information technology and is the sport administrator for the men's and women's hockey teams.
Prior to his position at Minnesota, McGinnis spent 14 years at The Ohio State University. McGinnis served as the Buckeyes' senior associate athletics director for administration, overseeing human resources, information technology, ice rink and equipment. McGinnis began his career at Ohio State in event management in 1997 serving as the director of event management from 2001-2004.
McGinnis is a current member of the NCAA Men's Hockey Committee and WCHA Executive Committee. McGinnis received his bachelor degree in sport management from Indiana University in 1997. He went on to earn a master's degree from The Ohio State University in 1999. McGinnis and his wife, Heather, have two sons, Brandon and Tyler.
