Stephen Volek is an Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Minnesota. He currently assists with all aspects of training of the men's and women's ice hockey teams. He is also responsible for the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for baseball, men's track and field, and women's golf.
Prior to his role at the University of Minnesota, Stephen was an Assistant Performance Coach at 1st Athlete in Edina, responsible for assisting with the implementation of off-season training programs for over 20 professional hockey players and over 30 NCAA hockey players. Previous roles include serving as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Minnesota State University-Mankato and the University of Findlay. Stephen also completed internships at the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2010 and the fall of 2012.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stephen is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Penn State University and a Masters degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania. Stephen is also a former hockey player, participating at the club level while attending Penn State.
