Jake Ricker is an Associate Athletic Communications Director for Gopher Athletics. He serves as the primary communications contact for wrestling, as well as providing strategic communication support for Athletics Administration, the Golden Gopher Fund and the M Club. He also provides communication assistance on department-wide initiatives that impact multiple Gopher programs. Ricker joined the Gopher Athletics Communications team in December 2013.
Prior to joining the athletics communications staff at the U of M, Ricker was an Account Supervisor at Weber Shandwick, one of the world's largest public relations agencies. In his role at Weber Shandwick, Ricker primarily worked with clients on activating sports sponsorships, leading teams for State Farm (Home Run Derby), CA, Inc. (World Golf Championships-CA Championship), the Notah Begay III Foundation (NB3 Challenge), and the U.S. Army (NASCAR, NHRA and All-American Bowl), among others. Working out of the agency's Consumer Products practice group, Ricker led client work outside the sports marketing world as well, including corporate and product communication support for Polaris Industries, Inc., and contributed to the agency's media training and crisis communication teams.
Originally from suburban Minneapolis, Jake graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in English.
