David is the Director of Licensing and Athletic Properties, at the University of Minnesota. He oversees/manages the University's intellectual property (trademarks, trade names and logos) and 300 licensees. David has held the position for over 20 years.

Prior to coming to the University of Minnesota, David was the General Manager/Buyer, for Gold Country Campus Apparel Stores.

He was responsible for all aspects of running a first rate retail operation, including recording/reporting of royalties, where he experienced licensing from the licensee side. David is a member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) and currently is the Big Ten Conference representative on the ICLA National Conferences Committee. David has served on the planning committees for the national licensing conventions and has made multiple presentations, at the organizations meetings. The University of Minnesota and David were recognized at the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and ICLA national meeting, in 2010 as the National Licensing Program of the Year. David is a native of Michigan and currently resides in Monticello, MN, with his wife Julie. He has two adult daughters, Melissa and Kristina. David is a graduate of Northern Michigan University.
