John Blackshear has been part of the Golden Gopher athletic equipment staff since 1983 and handles all equipment duties for the Gopher baseball, soccer, men's and women's golf and softball teams.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Blackshear earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and coaching from the University of Minnesota in 1989. He became a Certified Athletic Equipment Manager in 2004.

Blackshear and his son, John Jr., currently reside in southwest Minneapolis.
