LINDSAY DANCED FOR THE U OF M IN...
SOME OF LINDSAY’S FAVORITE SPIRIT SQUAD MEMORIES...
One of Lindsay’s favorite memories was winning the first national championship her junior year. The following year, the dance team won their second national championship. The special thing was that Lindsay was the sole captain of the team both of these years
Another favorite memory was her senior year when the she got to go to Final Four Women’s Basketball Tournament and cheer the Gophers on.
WHAT HAS LINDSAY’S INVOLVEMENT WITH THE SPIRIT SQUAD DONE FOR HER IN HER POST-COLLEGE LIFE?
Being on the dance team and being such a successful leader helped Lindsay land the job of Dance Event Coordinator for the U of M. Being the Dance Event Coordinator keeps Lindsay connected to the collegiate dance world even thought she teaches dancers youth through high school age. Being a member of the Spirit Squad helped teach her how to be a better leader and a better dance instructor. Lindsay shared that being a captain of her peers was one of the hardest things, and it pays off now because she is a great dance teacher.
WHAT MADE LINDSAY WANT TO DANCE AT THE U OF M...
Lindsay met Coach Amber Struzyk at a Just for Kix dance camp in high school and it made her want to be a part of her team. Specifically, she remembers loving the “Mo’ Money” dance from that camp.
LINDSAY’S INVOLVEMENT WITH THE PROGRAM AS AN ALUMNI...
Lindsay stays involved with the program by being the Dance Event Coordinator. She’s been able to plan all U of M dance events that help for fundraising for the spirit squad and for dance team so that they can afford costumes for nationals, choreographers, etc.
Lindsay also recently worked with the Hockey Cheerleading Team, teaching better stretching technique and choreography for performance at games.
A FEW OTHER THOUGHTS ABOUT THE PROGRAM...
Being a part of the program helped Lindsay LIVE the pride at the University of Minnesota there’s nothing like having that thrill of being one of 16 dance team members representing the U of M. Lindsay believes that dancing at the U of M helps create lifelong connections and friendships with teammates.
WHERE ARE SHE NOW?
Lindsay was married in December of 2006 to Lambert Brown and they have one 5 month old son, Jaxon. She currently teaches dance at Deanne’s Dance Studio in Minnetonka. In her free time, she loves playing with her son, Jaxon and she spends time cheering her husband’s football team on he coaches high school football in Fridley, MN.
