University of Minnesota Director of Athletics Norwood Teague today announced the hiring of Michael Halloran as Assistant Athletics Director for Development and Corrie Sears as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing.
Halloran, who worked as an Associate Athletics Director for Development at Minnesota from 2000 to 2007, returns to the Gophers after serving as the Director of Development for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis since 2010. His responsibilities included major gift fundraising, program development, donor administration and strategic advancement planning for parishes and schools.
In his new role, Halloran's primary focus will be on major-gift fundraising and capital campaign development.
He has more than 20 years of experience for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations in educational, religious, community and political environments. Halloran has also served as the development director for the Diocese of Sacramento, Archdiocese of Indianapolis and Diocese of Fargo.
Halloran received his bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.
Sears comes to Minnesota after spending the last two years at Virginia Commonwealth University in the same position. In her previous role, she oversaw all advertising and promotional efforts for all 16 of VCU’s athletic programs, ticketing and branding campaigns, social media and revenue generating partnerships, as well as the supervision of the band and spirit squads.
For the past five years Sears has been involved with NACMA’s female mentoring program both as a mentee and mentor and was named as one of the inaugural Female Mentoring Champions this year. Sears also served on the Female Administrators Panel at the 2012 NACMA conference.
Prior to joining VCU, Sears spent four years as the Director of Marketing at Nebraska, overseeing the marketing and game day efforts for all 23 sports. From 2004 through 2007, she was the Director of Marketing for Nelligan Sports Marketing at Colorado State University. Sears also previously spent time at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo., assisting with corporate sponsorship for the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche. Sears also assisted with Coors Brewing Company in sports sponsorship and the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She received her bachelor’s degree in sports administration and business administration from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2001 and her master’s in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 2003.
