Former Gophers Nick Leddy, Kyle Okposo and Erik Johnson tallied goals for their respective NHL teams last night with Johnson adding an assist for his third point in the last two games.
Leddy, who won the Stanley Cup last season with Chicago, added an insurance power-play goal for the Blackhawks in last night's 3-1 win over Nashville. The defenseman's rebound attempt went in and out of the net so fast the goal had to be reviewed by officials and eventually confirmed. Leddy has 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) this season for Chicago while the Blackhawks have won five of their last six.
While Alex Goligoski and the Dallas Stars got revenge on Johnson and the Avalanche with a 3-2 win on Tuesday after Monday's 6-2 loss, it was Johnson who found the scoreboard for the second-straight game. After adding his eighth assist earlier in the game, Johnson tallied his fourth goal to give Colorado a 2-1 lead in the second period although Dallas would go on to score two unanswered goals.
Finally, Okposo put the Islanders up 1-0 with his 11th goal of the year just 11 seconds into Tuesday's second period against Tampa Bay. The forward, who has 30 points this season including three goals and four points in his last four games, absolutely blasted his shot from the point to beat Ben Bishop in goal. The Lightning, however, would go on to win 3-2 in a shootout.
With only two games on the schedule for tonight and Paul Martin still out with an injury for Pittsburgh, we'll be off until Friday.
