For the sixth-week in a row, the Minnesota men's hockey program is the No. 1 team in the nation according to the USCHO.com poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, both of which were released on Monday.
The Gophers (18-4-4 overall, 10-4-4 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) earned 978 total points including 30 first-place votes in this week's USCHO.com poll, edging No. 2 Quinnpiac's 967 points (20 first-place votes). Miami, New Hampshire and Boston College round out the top five in this week's poll.
Minnesota earned 494 total points and 21 first-place votes in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll with Quinnipiac in second at 488 points and 13 first-place votes. Miami, Boston College and New Hampshire close out the top five, respectively.
Seven WCHA programs earned rankings in this week's polls including the Gophers -- No. 7 North Dakota, No. 8/10 St. Cloud State, No. 9/8 Denver, No. 11/13 Minnesota State, No. 14/15 Omaha and Wisconsin in 19th.
