Michgian State Preview: Game Time with Grimm

The Gopher Radio Network's Mike Grimm gives fans five things to watch (and listen) for in Saturday's game at Michigan State:

1. MOMENTUM: The Gophers will need to capitalize on the momentum and confidence gained in Saturday's stunning victory at home against Iowa. There weren't a lot of people who figured Minnesota would win that, but now that it has, take that momentum and move forward.

2. A TOUCH OF GRAY: Minnesota's MarQueis Gray may have taken a step forward as a leader and a quarterback in the win against Iowa. To lead two big fourth quarter TD drives can't help but give the talented signal caller confidence. He will have to play well on the road for the Gophers to have any chance against a really good Spartan team.

3. SPECIAL TEAMS AGAIN: There's no doubt special teams are becoming a way Minnesota can win games. The most important play of last week's victory was a perfectly-executed onside kick. Without it, the Gophers don't win. Minnesota will need another big play or two on special teams to win in East Lansing.

4. PASS RUSH: For the first time in awhile, the Gophers were able to get consistent pressure on a quarterback, and it resulted in a win against Iowa. They will need to do the same against Sparty's senior field general Kirk Cousins.

5. CHEAT SHEET: You see coaches with those play-calling cheat sheets on the sidelines all of the time. Well, this might be a little secret for some of you, but most radio announcers use their own cheat sheets, as well. Spotting boards and a good spotter are vital tools for me in the Gopher broadcast booth. David Leatherman is my spotter for home games. Hope you'll join us for the radio broadcast on the Gopher Radio Network presented by AlarmForce!
