Go Gophers! Why did you choose the sport of wrestling?

Brian Peterson: I wanted to be tough, and wrestling is a tough   sport.

GS: What was the biggest adjustment you had to make when moving from high school wrestling to college wrestling?

BP: Learning to control my weight was a big adjustment (I'm still adjusting...).

GS: What is the feeling like after a big takedown or scoring a pin?

BP: When I get a big takedown or pin in a match, I feel excited like I got 100% on a final exam that was worth the entire grade of a 4 credit 4000 level honors course in a subject that I don't even like.

GS: What team or individual performance are you most proud of?

BP: Winning the North Country Open tournament is arguable my best accomplishment in wrestling so far.

GS: Where is your favorite place to eat on campus?

BP: I like to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings.

GS: What is your favorite Minnesota tradition?

BP: I can't think of any (I'm from Michigan).

GS: What is the best part of being a member of the Minnesota wrestling team?

BP: The people I get to often be around make joining the Gophers amazing.

GS: Why did you choose Minnesota?

BP: I choose Minnesota because they were the best team that recruited me.

GS: Who on the team is the team prankster?

BP: We are pretty good; I wouldn't call anybody a prankster.

GS: What have you learned from wrestling that has helped you in other aspects of your life?

BP: I have learned how to perform more excellently in spite of pain or discomfort.

GS: What is your favorite sports movie?

BP: I don't have one.

GS: What are you listening to on your iPod right now?

BP: At this moment I am not listening to my MP3 player, but I like to listen to (and sing) hymns like To God be the Glory by Fanny Crosby and William Howard Doane.

GS: Do you have any pre-match superstitions?

BP: I pray to a supernatural God.

GS: What are your goals for this season?

BP: My goal this year is to win every tournament I wrestle in.

GS: What is your favorite sport outside of wrestling?

BP: Volleyball might be my second favorite sport to do.

GS: What has been the best memory in your Gopher wrestling career?

BP: Watching the last 20 seconds of Jayson Ness's national championship match is probably my best Gopher wrestling memory.

GS: If you had the choice to travel either forward or backward in time, which would you choose? Why?

BP: I would rather go back in time; there are a lot of things that I would like to see throughout history.

GS: Where do you like wrestling at more the Pavilion of Williams Arena?

BP: I like Williams Arena more than the Pav because it is bigger.

GS: What is your favorite TV show?

BP: I don't watch TV.

GS: What is your favorite food?

BP: Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon is probably my favorite food.
