Minnesota - Nebraska Preview: Game Time with Grimm

1. RIVALRY RENEWED: A new addition to the Big Ten Conference, Nebraska has played Minnesota more than any other Big Ten team - a total of 51 times. This rivalry dates back 1900 when the Gophers beat the Huskers 20-12. In fact, Minnesota holds the series lead 29 wins, 20 losses, and a pair of ties. The last Golden Gopher win, however, came in 1960. Minnesota wants to stop that trend this weekend.

Minnesota has lost 14 straight games to Nebraska, getting outscored in those contests 553-100. You're all familiar with the biblical story of David slaying the giant with a slingshot and stone? The Gophers need to take something from that story.

3. REST AND RECUPERATION: The Gophers used some of their bye week last week resting and recuperating at a time of the year where they needed to do it. They went through some shorter, more focused practices, and some of the coaches got out on the road recruiting. Nebraska also had a bye week last week, so the Cornhuskers should be rested, as well.

4. CODE RED: The Golden Gophers will almost certainly have to deal with their home stadium being littered with red-clad Nebraska fans, some of whom purchased Minnesota season tickets in order to ensure their seat on Saturday. It is Gopher Homecoming, so the Maroon and Gold will need to make some noise.

5. POST GAME FUN: We'll be broadcasting Saturday's game from TCF Bank Stadium, including the all-encompassing postgame show. Gopher women's basketball radio voice Corbu Stathes breaks down the boxscore, gets you scores from around the nation, and keeps the show's flow going with great guest commentary from former Gophers Ray Hitchcock and Justin Conzemius. Listen on your way home from the game!
